PERSIA FORMS AN ARMY
FEAR OF REPRISALS WHEN SOVIET TROOPS LEAVE
Recd. 6 p.m. London, Jan. 8. Persian Army officers arriving in Tehern from Azerbaijan reported that the Government, which the Democrat Party established, in Aberbaijan, is forming an army of 100,000 men, recruited among former ex-soldiers of the Persian Army, Azerbaijanians, and also Caucasians and Armenians.
Reuter’s Teheran correspondent says the officers stated that this is being done to prevent reprisals by the Persian Government when Russian troops are evacuated on March 21.
