Flight-Sergeant D. T. Curtis, of Wanganui, is among the R.N.Z.A.F. personnel on board the troopship Athlone Castle, due in Wellington tomorrow.
Flight-Sergeant H. J. Siddall, Wanganui (and of Maxwell) is among the R.N.Z.A.F. personnel on the troopship Rangitata, which is expected to berth in Wellington to-morrow morning. Mrs. R. Laird, who died recently, was mentioned at the monthly meeting of the Waitotara County Council yesterday by the chairman, Cr. W. Morrison. He said Mrs. Laird was the wife of a former councillor, Mr. R. Laird, Westmere, and the daughter of one of the oldest settlers in Wanganui, the late Mr. Alfred Symes, of Kai Iwi. “She was highly respected throughout the county,” added Cr. Morrison. A motion of condolence with Mr. Laird in the loss of his wife was carried.
