GERMAN INDUSTRY
ALLIES MI ST FIX ITS LEVEL London, Jan. 7. The four Allied Powers are now facing a decision which will have greater consequences for Germany than any taken yet, says a "Times” special correspondent. According to the Postdam agreement, by February 2 they must agree on the level of industry to be allowed Germany. The control machinery is now seeking a precise definition of the German standard of living by fixing the permitted output of steel. It seems clear that German steel-producing capacity will be reduced to less than one-third of what it was in 1929, but even a capacity for producing 6.000,000 tons of steel annu- ] ally may seem dangerous to some of the Allies.
