MR. HIGH BAILY, OF NEW PLYMOUTH

(P.A.) New Plymouth, Dec. 25. One of lhe founders of the dairy factory industry in Taranaki. Mr. Hugh Baily, died at New Plymouth yesterday morning, aged 79. An accountant by profession, he was secretary of a number of dairv companies, of the Egmont National Park Board, and at one time of the New Plymouth Rotary Club and Taranaki Herd Improvement Association. UR. W. H. UNWIN, OF TIMARU (R-A.) Timaru. Dec. 25 Doctor I-lilliam Howard Unwin, one of Timaru’s best known and re-peded citizens, died to-day. For 40 years Dr. Unwin served the public with distinction and ability, and closely identified himself with the cultural life of the town. In 1904 he was appointed medical superintendent of the Timaru Public Hospital, but in 1907 relinquished this post to enter piivate practice. He went over, eas in World War 1 and was placed in charge of the surgical division of No. 2 Hospital at Walton-on-Thames. Throughou! his stay in Timaru he served on the honorary staff of the hospital, and for many years was senior consulting surgeon. ’ He is survived by a daughter and two sons. Last year he was president of the .\’ew Zealand blanch of the British Medical Associal ion.
