Auckland, Dec. 24 The decisive defeat of Sweet Biscuit bV Cambria, Balmacara’s inability Io defeat Peter Gregor, and the comfortable defeat of My Bonnie by King’s Pride were the highlights o< the semi-final gallops at Takanini this morning, when training was on flic inside grass track, which was very fa.t.

King’s Pride with an advantage in the weights, defeated My Bonnie by three lengths in 1.1 1-5. This was easily his best effort this season, which brh>» him in favour for the Railway Handicap. On the other hand. My Bonnie has not been beginning well in her gallops of late and this will be against her in the Railway Handicap. Peter Gregor and Balmacara were also associated over five furlonga, the former to all appearances, holding the upper hand throughout to finish half a length in front In 1.0 2-5. Balmacara’s effort was a little disappointing and he has certainly known to work better. Questioned after the gailop, bo.h his owner, Mr. W. G. Bright, and trainer W. Clifton, stated that lie was by no means a certain runner in the Railway Handicap.
