ARRIVAL OF VISITORS AT ELLERSLIE
HORMUZ UNLIKELY STARTER IN AUCKLAND CUP Auckland, Dec. 20. Four horses with engagements in the Auckland Cup and all three horses who are coming from outside the Auckland Province to contest the Railway Handicap, arrived at Ellerslie at 10.30 a.m. yesterday. Cup candidates on the train were Golden Souvenir, who looked a mass of condition; Lo-ngsword, who appeared to be* in great racing shape; Glenfalloch and Hormuz. However, though the latter won at Otaki last week, he is considered by his connections to have had insufficient preparation for a race like the Auckland Cup and can be regarded
as a very unlikely starter in that event. He will race on the other days of the meeting. Railway Handicap candidates in the contingent were Tuis, who wiii be ridden by A. C. Messervy, Reorapa and Deprive. Also on the train were Riverview, Alcyone, Calm Courage, who will have the services of S. Waddell in the Queen's Plate, Karachi and Nawab, who joined the train en route. Two pacers engaged at. the Auckland Trotting Club’s meeting arrived from the south on the train. They were Jack’s Son and Casablanca.
