N.Z. BUYS WHEAT FROM AUSTRALIA
DEAL MADE BY MINISTER OF SUPPLY (P.A.) Auckland, Dec. 20 Arrangement', to purchase between 4,000,009 and 6,000,000 bushels of Australian wheat, enough to meet the deficiency in the New Zealand crop caused by the unfavourable weather in Canterbury this season, have been made in Aus.ralia by the Minister of Supply, Mr. Sullivan. He announced the purchase on returning from Sydney by flying boat, and said the price 1 I •’ not been finally fixed, but was • übject to negotiation. The Minister said that as a result of arrangements made, there was no prospect of a bread shortage through local deficiency in wheat. A supply from Australia was asured, but there were various propositions and alternatives which would he further discussed, and these had bearing on the nrice that would finally he paid. ••••••••••••••••••••••a***
