PLACING EX-SERVICEMEN The task of locating suitable jobs for ex-servicemen and ex-service-women was entrusted to the National Service Department some months ago and a special -ection, known as the Servicemen’s Employment Division, was set up for this purpose, said the chairman, Mr. J. dealt with by the Wanganui Rehabilitation Committee during the past two months. “Good work has been done and at present only a small number of men are receiving rehabilitation allowance pending placement in work or decision on war pension claims. Light work for men who are not physically capable of undertaking heavy employment is difficult to ob.ain, "but close , contact is maintained with employers and every effort is made to locate suitable light jobs. Employers can greatly assist in this matter by advising the Division of any vacancies,” 1 said Mr. Cotterill.
