U-BOAT GRAVEYARD
MORE THAN HUNDERD SUNK OFF IRELAND Recd. 6 p.m. London, Dec. 3 German crews helped to send more than 100 U-boats to their graveyard off the coast of Donegal la~t week. The “Evening News” publishes pictures of the operation, which is known at the Admiralty at ‘ Operation Deadlight.” The weather was so bad that the first batch, which were practically new examples of the 250-ton type, could not be destroyed by explosive charges, and so the escorting destroyers sank .heyi by gunfire.
