ALISON CUP FIELD

ELLERSLIE PROSPECTS

(Special) Auckland, Nov. 23 The mid-spring meeting of the Auckland Racing Club opens at Ellerslie to-morrow and will be concluded the following Saturday. With the weather still holding up the going will be fast. The fields are good throughout, although the smallest will be in the main event, the Alison Cup. Broiedame is entitled to be favourite for the Alison Cup after being runner-up in succession at the recent Auckland and Avondale meetings. Her conquerors were Sir Bian and Lou Rosa, the former now being deemed a New Zealand Cup prospect by her connections. Broiedame has topwieght now, with the class a bit below that in which she raced so prominently. Our Gold has gone two very good races at recent meetings, and, with Corot, Abbey Fox, Valley Boy, Mr. Rosa and Bueno, will help to make a race of it. Broiedame appears outstanding. The three-year-old King’s Pride will be one of a stable trio engaged in the Cheltenham Handicap, the others being Cambria and My Bonnie. All should perform well and they will be suited by the smaller field. The runaway Te Rapa winner, Cricket Ball, has been scratched, and Exeter, Kentish, Black Ace and Gay Star have possibilities. Cambria and King’s Pride appeal Form horses running on Saturday are:— 12.0 Melrose Handicap.—First Division: Royal Scot (coupled with Stable Boy), Balgowan (coupled with Jovial Song). Second Division: Chief Robin (coupled with Fiorin), Bronya (coupled with Corineus). 12.50 Tiri Hurdles.—Harris Tweed, Diamon King, Corsac. 1.35 Milford Handicap.—Default, Zulu Boy, Dougal. 2.20 Alison Cup.—Broiedame, Our Gold, Corot. 3.5 Cambria Handicap.—Lord RevelSupervision bracket, Barwon, Grand Tourist. 3.50 Takapuna Handicap First Division: Golden Pay, Kerry Lad (coupled with Maid of Sherwood) or Lightmint.
