NEW ZEALAND CUP TO-DAY
C.J.C. MEETING AT RICCARTON PROSPECTS AT SPRING FIXTURES The Canterbury Jockey Club will open its old-established New Zealand Cup meeting at Riccarton to-day. but in contrast with other days there will be several other meetings in the North Island. The Auckland. Woodville and Poverty Bay Clubs will also hold fixtures to-day. and there will be a Waikato Trotting Club meeting at Claudelauds. At Riccarton the principal events will be the New Zealand Victory Cup, first of the three £5OOO events in the Dominion this season, and the N.Z. Derby, the Stewards’ Handicap and the C.J.C. Welcome Stakes.
