PROTEST BY GREEK KING
POSTPONED PLEBISCITE London, Nov. 21 “The postponement of the plebiscite, accompanied by the formation of an all-Republican Government, amounts to stifling the sentiment in the Greek people which, as is known to all, is being clearly expressed in my favour at every opportunity,” said King George of Greece in a statement. “The manner in which this solution is linked with the continuation of British financial assistance constitutes an insult to Greece.”
The Populist (Monarchist) Party has cabled from Athens to Mr. Attlee, President Truman, General de Gaulle Mr. Mackenzie King, Field-Marshal Smuts, Mr. Winston Churchill, Speakers of the House of Commons and of Congress, protesting against the postponement of the plebiscite on the return of the King.
