FAREWELL TO NURSE BRIGGS.

(0.C.) Sanson, Nov. 22. On Wednesday a farewell afternoon sponsored by the Plunket Society was tendered to Nurse Briggs who is shortly leaving the district lor future residence in Tasmania. The president, Mrs. F. S. Collier, in her remarks, stated how sorry they were to see Nurse Briggs leave the district, and thanked her for her work during the six-year term she had been in the district and for the interest she had shown in the welfare of the mothers and children during th e period. Mrs. McKelvie endorsed the remarks of the president and extended good wishes for a bon voyage. Tile president asked Nurse Briggs to accept an "envelope” and presented her with a spray made by Mesdames Bond and Rowan. In responding Nurse Briggs stated she had thoroughly enjoyed her work while in New Zealand and thanked members of the society and the mothers for the co-operation she had always received. Competition winners were Mesdames R. Nicol, R. Babington and A. Scott. PERSONAL NEWS. Gnr. Dennis Anderson, of Thames, recently visited friends and relatives in the district while the guest of his aunt, Mrs. W. E. Pearce. Mrs. G. L. K. Drew and small daughter, Barbara, have returned after a holiday visit to Taupo. Mrs. Job Harris snr. and Mrs. K. C. Bailey are at present visiting Napier. The friends of Mr. D. Stewart, who was admitted to hospital to undergo an operation, will be glad to learn that he is making excellent progress. Miss Grace Ellern is a visitor to Sanson. Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Ellern are holidaying with their daughter, Mrs. White.
