TO REMOVE ANOMALIES
VALUATION OF LAND ACT TO BE AMENDED (P.A.) Parliament Bldgs., Nov. 20 The existing practice of excluding from lhe unimproved value the cost of improvements done in carrying out subdivision is altered by the Valuation of Land Amendment. Act, which was read a first time in the House oi Representative to-night ancl2 referred to the Lands Committee. ’ The Minister of Lands said that costs of subdivision would be incorporated in unimproved values and many anomalies in arriving at rateable values would be removed, ff’he Bill also provided for the establishment of assessment courts for the various districts. The present practice was for the one assessment court to sit in all parts of New Zealand, which meant much waste and a great deal of delay in the review of valuations. With the new courts operating reviews could be given almost immediately.
