NATIONAL SAVINGS

WANGANUI DISTRICT TOPS ANNUAL QUOTA

Evidence that there is no falling oft m investments in the National Savings campaign is provided by the fact that last week the Wanganui district achieved the distinction of being the fifth in the Dominion to be credited with having exceeded its annual quota, set to be raised bv March 31 1946. Thus the district's annual quota has been raised in little more than six of the twelve months allotted. Last year the Wanganui district also exceeded its annual quota during the month of November, shortly alter the close of the 1944 Victory Loan. Most of the credit for this rear’s success, stated Mr. B. E. A. Williams, district organiser, on behalf of the Wanganui National Savings Committee, could be accorded to Manga'weka, Marton, Taihape, Ohingaiti and Waverley, in each of which centres the annual quota had been substantially exceeded. Hunterville, Patea, Aramoho and Wanganui City he added, were very close to achieving their annual objectives, and it would be interesting to see if all four could top their quotas before Christmas. Ohakune Junction, added Mr. Williams, was in the picture for the first, time since the inception of the quota campaign, and if its present, weekly investments were maintained the annual quota was assured. A special appeal was made to Waitotara, Raetihl, Ohakune and Rangataua to step up the campaign. Last wook, concluded Mr. Williams, the district again attained its weekly objective of £2380, and the city quota was exceeded bv £3OO.
