The average in the Press Shield competition has gone up 13 points and in the Imperial Shield 2 points. The keenness of the officers and the n.c.o.’s was responsible for this improvement. TURAKINA DANCE. A dance under Ihe auspices of the Turakina R.S.A. Queen Carnival will be held in the Turakina Hall on Tuesday, November 20. ST. JOHN AMBULANCE The annual inspection of St. John Ambulance, held on November 5, was a very successful parade, there being only a few absentees. The parade strength was 103 for the Marton Divisions. The assistant-commissioner, Mr. W. Bourne, stated after the inspection that he was very satisfied with his Marton Brigade and he was delighted to have the pleasure of inspecting the brigade in its own headquarters. The ambulance divisional secretary has spent several hours in checking each member s record and in the near future the list of awards due to each member since 1940 will be complete, also each member’s record since that date. These awards will be applied for only when-the member concerned has checked his record with the divisional secretary. To give members some idea of the work entailed I am informed by the secretary that if each member who is entitled to an award requires the same there will be 65 labels and five medallions to order, although several of these will go to members who have left the district or transferred to other divisions. On Sunday next, at 10 a.m. al! ambulance cadets will attend the Victory Hall in mufti with their uniform complete which will be handed in to the storekeeper, who will arrange to have them cleaned. These uniforms must have a slip of paper attached hearing the owner’s name, and must be complete. At 10.30 a.m. the same morning all members of the Ambulance Division will parade in mufti at the Victory Hall for the purpose of checking their records and efficiency for awards from 1940, and it is essential that all members be present. This will be followed by an executive meeting. MARTON JUNCTION SCHOOL Applications are Invited by the above school committee for the position of caretaker. EVANGELISTIC MEETINGS GOOD ATTENDANCES “It. is great to fee such huge numbers attending these evangelistic meetings” was a remark made last Sunday when the people were seen flocking to the Rifle Range Hall, French Street. Marton Junction, to hear Mr. C. C. Graham, evangelist, speak at 7 p.m. One notable feature of these meetings is that people of al] denominations are attending and enjoy Christian fellowship together singing their favourite hymns and choruses, as well as listening to the plain Bible message and enjoying a cup of tea at the close. This surely is the way the Master Him <»f would have to be. A cordial invitation is extended to all to hear Mr. Graham again this Sunday nt 7 p.m.,, when ho will speak ' on “Heaven—what the Bible says | about it, and how to get there.”
