USE OF PENICILLIN FOR SCARLET FEVER
Reed. 6 n.m. Chicago, Nov. 14 The American Medical Association reported the discovery of a successful seven-day treatment for scarlet fever, by which 10,000 units of penicillin are injected into the muscles every three hours, eliminating the germ which causes infection from the nose and throat within 48 hours. Two Boston doctors who made the discovery said - that the results are only tentative, becaus 7 the small number of cases treated, but that clinical results suggest’d that muscular treatment might minimise and even eliminate late complication involving the ear.', heart and joints, and dangerous damage to the kidneys.
