EXPECTED AT AUCKLAND

ESCORT CARRIER DUE FROM SYDNEY (P.A.) Auckland, Nov. 15. H.M.S. Reaper, one of the escort carriers of the British Pacific Fleet, is expected at. Auckland on Saturday. She left Sydney on Wednesday night and so far as is known she has the following personnel on board for disembarkation at Auckland:—Navy, 188 officers and ratings; Army, 114 officers and other ranks; Air Force, 179 officers and other ranks. The nominal rolls are not yet available. It is known that, the R.N.Z.A.F. Band, which has been touring Australia, is on board, and that the rest of the personnel have been serving in >frious theatres of the war. They will be sent to their homes as soon as possible after the ship has berthed. The Reaper is a Lend-Lease escort carrier, having built in America from a merchant hull and transferred to Britain with a number of other ships of similar design. Each usually carried one fighter squadron and they were extensively used for the protection of merchant and troop convoys in the various oceans of the world.
