Ban on Ships’ Radio Lifted. Prohibition of the use of radio by ships in harbour in New Zealand has been revoked. A notice to this effect was gazetted last night. The prohibition was imposed in September, 1939. Taihape Rotary Club The charter of the recently-estab-lished Rotary Club in Taihape will be presented by Past District Governor Harold Thomas on Tuesday, December 4. Members from both the Wanganui and Marton Rotary Clubs will be present at the ceremony. The Technical College The Wanganui Technical College prospectus, which has just been issued, covers a wide range of courses for both girls and boys. College Cricket The annual cricket match between the first elevens of the Collegiate School and Wanganui Technical College will be played on the Collegiate ground this afternoon and will be continued to-morrow. Play will begin to-day at 1.45 p.m. and stumps will be at 6 p.m. Play will be resumed to-morrow at 10.30 a.m. The umpires will be Messrs. H. E. B. Newton and Mr. R. A. Kilpatrick. Wanganui East Swimming Interest. That keen interest is taken in swimming in Wanganui East is evident from the fact that there are 87 active members of the Wanganui East Swimming Club, which will hold its official opening of the season to-morrow after noon. Among those who will be present for the occasion are the patron, Dr. Kenrick Christie, the president, Mr. J. B. Cotterill, M.P. and the president of the Wanganui Swimming Centre, Mr. A. Muller. Carnival Effort. Last night on Cook’s Gardens a further effort in aid of the Combined Carnival was held. Of major interest was the historical pageant of nursing, which held the close attention of the spectators. It was vividly presented and deservedly applauded. Talented contributions were made to the night’s entertainment by Miss Swan’s pupils, the Marist Brothers’ School choir, Young Maori Party and Wanganui Male Choir
