A SCHOLARSHIP FUND SONS OF DECEASED OR DISABLED SER\ ICEMEN (P.A.) Christchurch, Nov. 12 Scholarships for the sons of deceased or disabled servicemen, tenable at Canterbury University College, or the Canterbury Agricultural College, and commemorative of the deects vf Captain Charles H. Upham, V.C. and Bar, are to be the purpose of a fund which it is hoped to raise in Canterbury.

This was decided upon to-day by a committee of citizens presided over by the Mayor (Mr. E. H. Andrews/. It was decided to organise throughout Canterbury an appeal for contributions to the fund.

It was decided 10 with local bodies in Canterbury province, asking them to sot up committees of citizens to organise "collections for the fund. The hope was expres ed that at least £lO,OOO should be raised for the purpose, and that minimum objective was adopted by lhe committee.
