MONTHLY GENERAL MEETING. (0.C.) < Taihape, Nov. 7. Welcoming new members at the monthly general meeting of the Ta.hape R.S.A. last evening, the chairman, Mr. H. Johnston, expressed the hope that the younger men would soon be taking over the reins. “The : future of the association is in their hands,” he said, and he expressed the i hope that the association should not i become a political one in any way. | Mr. Johnston took the opportunity of welcoming Messrs. S. Haves, E. N. : Benseman, W. H. G. Walker, Coleman and J. G. Fazakerling, who were present for the first time. A considerable amount of correspondence was dealt with. A letter ■ rom headquarters, with regard to badges, stated that badges would be made available to branches as soon as they became available, although re- : placement of lost badges was likely to f take some considerable time. It was suggested that branches endeavour i to obtain and forward okl type badges I and unclaimed badges for remolting. ; A reply was received from headquarters regarding the appointment iof a postmaster at the Utiku office. • This position had already been filled, the letter stating the appointment be- ' ing a late war widow. The memberships return for the

month showed a total of 355. Of Hrs total 188 are returned personnel from

World War 11. The chairman, while expressing pleasure with the increase, said that she hoped that it would not be long before this total would be increased considerably. The Taihape branch of the Red Cross Society wreje at some length, covering the hospitality scheme for returned and returning servicemen. After a brief discussion, it was resolved that the association should support the scheme whenever the occasion should arise. ' Mr. P. Williams reported that Messrs. S. A. Reid, J. Harding and A. G. Simpson were inmates of the T;Jhape Hospital, while Messrs J. George, .1. Guilliard and A. Ferguson had been discharged.
