VICTORIAN POLL
RESULT STILL OBSCURE LABOUR LIKELY TO RULE WITH HELP Recd. 10.20 p.m. Melbourne, Nov. 12 It will be some days before the Victorian election position is sufficiently clarified to enable any decision on the form of Government. Many seats are still in doubt, but Labour seems assured of 30, with a possible 35 in a House of 65. The present indications are that Labour will rule with the support of the Independents, though this is against Labour policy. The counting of primary votes has now been completed, but absentee and postal votes must be added before the preferences are distributed. These will be required to decide many seats. It is now suggested that the preferences may save the Premier, Mr. Macfarlan’s Brighton seat for him, t but the final count will be close.
