UNITED Because of Cook's Gardens being engaged, the venue of this match was transferred to the far field at the Collegia, e School ground. Playing on a “green’’ wicket and :ioi- outfield, United Old Boys, with 17 runs for the loss of no wickets, began their task of overhauling Wanganui’s total of 212 runs of the previous Saturday. The not-out batsmen, R. I. Sewell and J. H. Felts, faced the attack, but when four runs had been added, Sewell was caught by Glover, off Cave. Felts, af.er making a further 13 runs, also felt a victim to Cave's bowling. Cave’s bowling dominated the game and the side were all out for 80. The last two wickets fell K. C. Millward’s bowling. Batting a second time, United Old Boys gave an improved showing and hit up 132 for the los; of four wickets. Felts, in this innings, punished the bowling and was 86 not out at stumps. He hit two sixes and two fours. COLLEGIATE v. TECH. OLD BOYS In reply to Collegiate School's small first inning's score of 31, Technical Old Boys compiled 154. Collegiate School, thanks to an enterprising display of solid batting by their captain, A. S. Paterson (94), hit up 163 runs in their second innings. Apart from a contribution of 28 from D. McLean, and 13 from the hat of R. J. Salmond, the remaining batsmen were not impressive against: the bowling of Thomas and McPhail. MARIST v. TECH. COLLEGE In reply to Marist’s first innings total of 152, Technical College made a gallant, but unsuccessful attempt to overhaul their opponent's score, and had to be content with 134 runs.
