OBITUARY
MR. R. C. KENNER Formerly prominent in shipping and boating circles in bolli Auckland and Wellington, Mr. Robert Charles Renner has died at his residence, Herne Bay, at the age o£ 80 years. Mr. Renner was born in Wellington ■and was the youngest son of Captain F.- W. S. Renner, master of the steamer Wonga Wonga, who was responsible for tire rescue of some 60 sailors when H.M.S. Orpheus was wrecked on the Manukau Bar in 1863. For many years Mr. Renner was secretary of the Wellington Steam Ferry Co. He was also a director of Thompson Eros.. Ltd., and a member of the Wellington Harbour Board. Later ho became secretary of the Batea Shipping Company. After his retirement in 1921 Mr. Renner went to Auckland and was associated with the New Zealand Power Boat Club. He is survived by bis wife, one daughter, and one son.
