TOURIST RESORTS
STATE OVERTURES TO PRIVATE OWNERS (P.A.) Wellington, Nov. 7. A report from Franz Joseph that advances are being made by the Government to proprietors of privateiyowned tourist resorts throughout the Dominion with a view to their being State operated and controlled and that it is probable that early negotiations will be entered into for the purchase of at least one such scenic establishment on the West Coast, was shown to the Minister in charge of Tourist and Health Resorts, Mr. Parry. There was no general plan of negotiations for the taking over by the Government of privately-owned tourist establishments he said. That, however, did not prevent the Tourist Department from entering into negotiations for the purchase of a place.
