ADVANCE WANGANUI

Sir,—l notice by the latest census figures, that Wanganui population has drifted behind Palmerston North, by 1000. I also note that many new factories have sprung up, which should have helped to increase our population. I would like to ask through your paper, that one of our City Councillors tell us why the proposal of one of our leading stock firms to spend many thousands of pounds in erecting sale yards on the borough boundary was turned down. Surely, with such a large back country as we have, the encouragement of larger stock sales and more stock sales would help bring more business and wealth to Wanganui, a city which sadly needs a stimulant.— I am, etc., i “INTERESTED.”
