TENTH ANNUAL MEETING The tenth ordinary general meeting of “the Waitotara Lime Company, Ltd., was held at Haw era on November 1, 1945, when the directors submitted a report on the year’s work to a large attendance of shareholders present. “In spite of the fire, which occurred on June 10, the year was a successful one,” said the chairman, Mr. H. H. West (Wanganui). “The output was 19,355 tons and the net profit, after allowing for losses, by fire, was £lBl6 12s sd. This amount has been applied in reduction of previously accumulated losses.” Both the profit and the output would have been better had the company not suffered the fire. The chairman reported that all fire claims had been satisfactorily met by the Yorkshire Insurance Company, and that re-con-struction work was practically complete. “The new building is a great improvement on the old structure and concrete floors had been laid down,” he said. “The boxing in of the machinery and of lime bins would go far towards the control of dust and make working conditions much better,” continued the chairman,” and plans are in hand for the building of a new dining room for employees, and improvements to the existing shower and charge rooms.” He extended an invitation to shareholders to visit the works at any time. Mr. West thanked his co-directors for their co-operation during the year, particularly Mr. Finlay and Mr. Miller, for their assistance in obtaining supplies of material for re-con-struction. Mr. W. M. Falconer, public accountant, Wanganui, was re-appoint-ed auditor for ihe ensuing year. The two retiring directors, Messrs. H. J. Finlav and G. W. Gane, of Hawera, were re-elected unopposed.
