CONCERT PARTY VISITS RONGOTEA (0.C.) Bulls, Sept. 18 Last, evening a concert party from Bulls journned to Rongotea, to provide items at a Welcome Home to a number of returned servicemen of that district. The large crowd present proved to be an appreciative one. Those who took part were: Mesdames Eyles, J. S. Tricker, Ross, Sanson, McGregor, Misses Scott and Sutherland and Mr. P. M. Anderson. The music for the dance that followed was provided by the Bulls’ Band. R.S.A. SMOKE CONCERT

Comradeship found only among returned servicemen prevailed at a “smoke concert* given as a Welcome Home by the Bulls R.S.A. to the “boys” who have just recently returned from overseas. The chairman (Mr. > 11. Ellery) extended a warm welcome to the guests and invited them to join up with the. local branch of the R.S.A. Mr. Ellery stated that it was generally desired that men of the 2nd N.Z.E.F. should not only join the R.S.A. but share some of the responsibilities with the older ones.. The guests of the evening were: Messrs J. Langdon, N. Langaon, C. Wasson, J. Meads, S. Edmonds, C. Green, R. McKenzie, L. Shirneck, J. Inkster and A. Why.e.

Each replied, thanking the chairman and those present for their splendid welcome and relating some of their more amusing experiences whih serving overseas. The evening openea with tne Loyal Toast and later in ihe evening the chairman proposed “The guests and next of kin.” This was replied to by Mr. Bert Meads. Mr. J. Dwyer made a few remarks on betalf of the 3rd Division and Mr. Turi also spoke on behalf of the 1914-18 Diggers. Music was provided by the Revellers Orchestra from Palme; ston North and those present joined in with the choruses of the more familiar songs. During the evening items were given by: Messrs V. Edwards, S. Rich, R. O'Keefe, G. Richardson Turi, L. Shirneck, C. .Culpan, Peter Edwards and T. Gainey. A Maori haka was given by three Maori members, in the usual stirring fashion.

The chairman referred to the passing of an old “Digger,” Mr. D. G. Flower. He asted all members to join him at a Clkirch Parade on the following Sunday evening when a Memorial Service would be held.
