RANGITIKEI CLUB
INCREASED STAKES FOR THE DECEMBER MEETING An increase in stakes for the annual race meeting, to be held at Bulls on December 1, was decided on at. a committee meeting of the Rangitikei Racing Club recently. It was also stated that an application had been made for one of the extra 45 racing dates. Saturday, April 13, being selected as a suitabie day. It was decided to reserve the popular car-parking area through the northern gate for members at the December meeting. The chairman, Mr. J. H. Russell, referred to the death of an old member, Mr. G. D. Flower, and also to that of Mr. N. Blackmore, of Palmerston North a prominent supporter of the club. Votes of sympathy were accorded the relatives in the customary manner. Mr. J. H. Russell presided over Messrs P. W. Wilson, K. McK. Duncan, G. A. McDonnell, L. Hill, K. C. Bailey, Q. O. Wilson, T. W. Norris, B. J. Frecklington, John Tricker. T. P. McGrath and P. Richardson. The following committees were appointed:—• Judicial committee, Messrs K. McK. Duncan, G. A. McDonnell and T. P. McGrath; course committee, Messrs T. W. Norris, T. P. McGrath, G. A. McDonnell and K. C. Bailey; totalisator steward, Mr. J. J. Mansell; hon. timekeeper, Mr. G. A. McDonnell; programme committee Messrs T. W. Norris, G. A. McDonnell and K. McK. Duncan; finance committee, Messrs J. H. Russell, L. Hill, Q. O. Wilson, K. McK. Duncan and the secretary. New members elected include: Messrs L. Kellick, C. Waugh, S. A. Escort Hilton Barry, T. H. Dunn, L. J. Huddleston, L. J. Ransom, Wilson Cribb, E. L. Martin and E. N. Crombie.
