TOWNSWOMEN’S GUILD
MEETING AT CASTLECUFF The monthly meeting of the Castlecliff Townswomen’s Guild was held .ecently, when Mrs. Paul presided and welcomed members and several visitors. Mrs. Paul asked that the Doxology be sung in thanksgiving for the end of the war. Roll call was: “A Kindness Shown to Me.’’ Mrs. Spriggens and Mrs. Knox, who celebrate their birthdays this month, received sprays and were accorded musical honours. Competitions resulted as follows:—Best flower, Mrs. Norman 1, Airs. Paul 2; white scones. Mrs. Nonnan 1, Mrs. Anthony 2. A competition entitled “Notable People” was won by Mrs. R. Cate. Mrs. Comrie demons, rated rug making from old silk underwear and stockings. She received a bouquet of spring flowers. Mrs. F. Cathro presented a humorous sketch and received a bouquet. Mrs. Paul and Mrs. Rountree were appointed delegates to the annual council meeting to be held in Wellington next week. Mrs. Taylor was appointed hon. treasurer in place of Mrs R. Cate, who has resigned.
