FOUR FARMS AVAILABLE FOR EX-SERVICEMEN

THE MILSON SETTLEMENT. (Special) Wellington, Sept. 20. Four sections in what is described as the Milson Farm Settlement are to be made available by ballot early next month to ex-servicenjen farmers graded “A” by their rehabilitation farm sub-committees for dairyfarming in the Manawatu or Wellington Land District. From four to live miles distant from Palmerston North, they lie near the junction of Milson Line and the Kairanga-Bunnythorpe Road.

Each of the sections is about 60 acres in area and is stated to be high quality level land, which has been cleared, stumped and ploughed and sown in good Engl.sh grasses. On only one of the sections, however, are there at pre ent any buildings. Successful applicants will go on to the sections on a wages ba& s until necessary development work has been completed, upon which they will be given first option of a lease or agreement for sale and purchase. Part of the development programme will be the carrying out of a drainage scheme. It is estimated that in their

present condition the sections should be capable of carrying a minimum of 40 milking cows and necessary young stock. As the settlement is within easy distance of Palmerston North, lit is considered that the servicemen I taking over will probably be able to cater for town milk The property on which the sections arp situated previously belonged to Mrs. A. Linklater. ,
