WAR-TIME RESTRICTION FINDS FAVOUR

STOCK RETURNS FOR RABBIT BOARDS EYERY THREE YEARS

One war-time restriction which apparently has found favour relates to Rabbit Boards.

At a meeting of the Wanganui Rabbit Board yesterday the Direc'.or-Gen-eral of the Department of Agriculture wrote seeking the Board’s opinion in regard to the Rabbit Nuisance Act Modification Emergency Regulations, which provide tiia- stock returns shall be furnished once in three years instead of annually. The letter stated that at the present time the question of the revoca.ion of all emergency regulations that are no longer required is at present under review and asked that the Board submit its views on the matter. The chairman of the Board (Mr. A. H. Collins) said that the present system appeared to be very satisfactory as there was not very much variance of stock each year and he favoured the retention of the regulation. Mr. Collins pointed out tha, the old method involved a good deal or additional expense. It was decided to advise the Department that the Board favoured the present method. The chairman of the Patea-Wai-totara Rabbit Board (Mr. Clau Smith) said last night that he also agreed that it would he wise to retain the regulation which provides for the making of stock returns once every three years instead of annually.
