ATTITUDE TO PRISONERS
EFFORTS TO ALTER OUTLOOK OF JAPANESE Recd. 6 p.m. Tokio, Sept. 19. The Americans are busily trying to convince the Japanese people that they should welcome home the Japanese war prisoners. The people hqd been told by their leaders that caplure was a disgrace beyond redemption, and also that no Japanese were taken prisoner, because they preferred death. Lieut. Colonel Greene, of the Allied Information Dissemination Section, said: “We are trying to convince the Japanese that there is no difference between a prisoner and any other Japanese, because all surrendered.
