N.Z. TOURNEY FiKST ROUND MATCHES. (P.A.) Auckland, Sept. 9. The New Zealand womens hockey tournament, winch has not been held since 1940, when Canterbury was successful in Auckland, was rev.ved on Saturday, when the first round matches were played at Melville Park in tine weather. The grounds weit in good order. Results were: Auckland 3 (Misses J. Miller 2, E. Fraser 1' v. Wairarapa 1 (M. McKenna), Otago 5 (M. Eaton 2, R. Cullen 2, D. Stinson) v. Rangitikei 0; Wellington 4 (D Gray 2, J. Hatcher 2 v. Poverty Bay 1 (R. Harvey); Canterbury 4 (G. McKenzie 2, K. Colo. W. Dean v. Wanganui 1 (L. Davison).
