SHOSTAKOVICH’S NINTH SYMPHONY
Reed. 6 n.m. Moscow, Sept. 5. The Soviet Composer Dmitry Shostakovich has completed his Ninth Symphony, which was played for the first time last night by the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra under the conductorshin of the composer. A critic described it. as “a joyous symphony, with many major tones.”
