NEXT NEW ZEALAND CUP The Canterbury Jockey Club’s spring meeting, at which the New Zealand Cup will be decided, is to be held on November 17 and 24, instead of November 24 and December 1, if permission for the change is granted. Should an extra day's racing be granted, there will be a third day on December 1. Stakes will be appreciably raised. The meeting will be known as the N.Z. Victory Cup meeting, and the main race will be the Victory Cup, worth £5lOO, including a £lOO cup, an increase of £2OOO over last year. The N.Z. Derby will be worth £2500, and (he Stewards’ Handicap ££soo. On the second dav the Canterbury Cup will be worth £l2OO, the Metropolitan Handicap £2OOO, and the Members’ Handicap £lOOO. The New Zealand Cup has thus been raised to a value on a par with the Wellington Cup and the Auckland Cup and there will be three £5OOO races in Ihe Dominion.
