ON AWAPUNI TRACKS

(Special Palmerston North, Sept. 6 Horses engaged at Wanganui were given their final gallops al Awapuni under favourable conditions, the morning being fine and mild and the going very much better than Tuesday. The flags were 50ft out on the course proper and the plough was fairly fast. One of the best gallops of the morning was that of Solver (A. G. Waddell), who came home fast, the last three in a tick better than 42 to cover the last, seven of a round in 1.44 1-5. Specialist (W. J. Stevens) and Langue d’Or (Boreham) were associated in an easy six in 1.34 2-5. Reversion (Waddell) and Tremello (Tattersall) hopped away short of the live and a-half barrier. They travelled well down the back stretch and were home in 43 2-5 to complete in 1.18. Speed King (Stevens) was in front of Tahli (V. Sellars) at the end of five in 1.11 3-5. Lord Bradbury (Tattersall) and Bezany (Waddell) took 1.12 in a similar task. Sir Bradbury (Broughton) went five but was not tinted. He was travelling fast at the finish. Theilyn (A. S. Ewan) maintained an even pace over seven which he ran .n 1.49 2-5. Scroll (Andrews) and Havildar (Stevens) were sent away from a barrier start. Havildar began best but. Scroll moved up very quickly and was timed to run three in 43. Omahina (Tattersall) was not troubled in running the last three in 45. Controller (Waddell) sprinted half a mile on the plough, breaking 40 for the last three. A number of horses were schooled on the new 7 track, among them being Gold Money Song (Andrews), twice round without Ynuch pace on. Red Rocket in front of First King twice round, and Red Glare (W. Jenkins) once round in his usual first class style. Red Glare is to race on the second day at Wanganui.
