NATIONAL PARTY
WANGANUI WOMEN’S SECTION, There was a large gathering at a social afternoon held by the Women’s Section of the Wanganui branch of the N.Z. National Party in Dustin’s Tearoom yesterday afternoon. Welcoming all present, the president, Miss Elaine Newton, on behalf of members, conveyed birthday greetings to Mrs. Cameron, of Castlecliff, who was 81 years of age Yesterday and was present at the meeting. The president announced tfeat the National Party intended holding a. Victory Ball next month. A delightful musical programme arranged by M’ss Newton, was enjoyed. Miss Molly Rankin, of Christcnurch. sang the songs “Silent Worship’” by Handel, and “Linden Lea.' Mrs. Darcy Preston sang "Damon” and “Five Little Miss Peggy Scott contributed several pianoforte selections and also played the accompaniments. The speaker, Mr. A. C. Seivewright, the Wanganui organiser, spoke of women’s part in the affairs and important functions of the world. He said their opinions arc worth notice and the women are a great force in the world. He named a number of famous women and spoke of what they had done in the world. The speaker was thanked by Miss Newton for his lucid and informative talk. Afternoon tea was served.
