N.Z. AIRMEN IN R.A.F. DISBANDING OF SQUADRONS (Sjieciai Correspondent—N.Z.P.A.) Recd. 7.55 p.m. London, Sept. 4 Tile objec.ive of R.N.Z.A.F. Headquarters in London is to send every member of the R.N.Z.A.F, who can be reaieased f.om the R.A.F. home to New Zealand by Christmas, it is stated here. The majority of the men can be released lairty quickly from the R.A.F., but some cannot be replaced easily, and they will be retained temporarily. The ra e of return home, of course, depends on shipping. Three or six New Zealand squadrons in the European theatre have now disbanded — th? Suitfire Squadron, the 488th Mosquito Night-fighter and the 489th Eeaufighter Torpedo-Bomber Squadrons, which arc still on the Continent, will be disbanded this month. The 75th Lancaster Bomber Squadron will revert to an English squaaron. No official notice has been taken of the disbanding of these squadrons. A ceitain number of New Zealanders are applying for permanent commissions in the R.A.F., while it is expec - « d others will take advantage of a h?me providing for a further four irs service and a gratuity of £5OO.
