CHILDREN’S GARDEN CIRCLE

Despite a not too promising afternoon, a good number of aduits and children attended the "At Home" he., at the Children's Garden Circle rooms recently. There was a very attractive display of children's floral work and the gardens were looking neat and trim and very gay with narcissi and other spring flowers. Children as well as adults were very interested in the planting of seeus, plants, etc., with compost. This demonstration was given by Mrs. Watkin and Mr. Bamford. Mr. Cox gave a talk on narcissi, its culture and the staging of same. He also judged the narcissi growing in the gardens. Tlie following is the prize list:— Best-kept, flower plot: P. Benson 1, Pat Little 2. Best flower other than narcissi: D. Field 1, Jean Spurdie 2, Ann Clare 3. Best vegetable plot: Pam Johnston 1, D. Meld and C. Benson equal 2, A. Clare and Les Tutty equal 3. Narcissi: Best yellow trumpet, G. Stutbridge 1, I. Leatham and B. Cuff equal 2, Flora Anderson 3. Best double, B. Brewer 1, M. Puddle and P. Benson equal 2, Josephine Ferry 3. Lcedsi, L. Lett 1, C. Hylton 2, A. Clare 3. Yellow incom., Robin Smith 1, S. Grainger 2. Barri, A. Clare 1, J. Dempsey 2, I. Yalden 3. Incom., N. Persson 1, T. Dickie 2, S. King 3. Champion bloom, Nancy Persson. The committee dispensed afternoon tea and thus ended a happy and instructive afternoon.
