ALONG TIDDIM ROAD

OFFENSIVE IN BURMA Recd. 6 p.m. Rugby, Aug. 23. On the Tiddim road our advance to re-engage the enemy continues, slates a South-east Asia communique. In the Kabaw Valley artillery and aircraft are active against the Japanese positions on the Tamu-Sittaung track. In north Burma patrol activity has continued in the Kazu area and along the Nam Tabet River south of Myitkyina. Elements of the Thirty-sixth Division north of Pinbaiw inflicted casualties during patrolling. Aircraft of the Eastern Air Command scored direct hits on river steamers and many small craft during a series of sorties over the Chlndwin and Irrawaddy areas.
