ROLL OF HONOUR

WANGANUI SOLDIER DIES ON RETURN TO N.Z.

The death occurred in Dunedin on Sunday o£ Private Arnold Spencer Jones, of Wanganui, who recently rei turned from overseas after more than two and a-half years’ active service He was aged 36 years. Born in Eltham, in 1907, he attended the Gonville School, where he was head prefect, and a member of the Wanganui Primary School Rugby representative team. Leaving school, he played for the Kaierau Rugby Club, and was a valued member of its senior team for a long period. In peacetime Private Jones was well known as a breeder of fox terriers, and he was the proprietor of ’’Foxmere” Kennels, at Gonville. Private Jones was in the heavy fighting of the Sangro battle in Italy and was wounded. His wife, Mrs. J. D. Jones, resides in Fitzherbert Avenue. His mother is Mrs. N. M. Jones, Puriri Street. The funeral takes place this afternoon at the Aramoho Cemetery, after a service at St. Peter’s Church, Gonville.
