Mrs. R. V. Foster, Wicksteed Street, has returned from a visit to Wellington. Miss Patricia Ryan, Wellington, is staying with Mrs. P. A. O’Neill, Ingestre Street. Mrs. A. White, of Hora Hbra, Cambridge, who has been visiting Wanganui as the guest of her sister, Mrs. C. E. Stewart, returned home last night. Miss Patty Taiboys, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. G. 'laiboys, wicksteed Street, and Miss Janet Campion, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Desmond Campion, “Okirae,” Fordeli, left yesterday to join the W.R.E.N. s at Wellington. ’ After three and a-half years spent in Egypt, Iraq and Persia, establishing CiUbs lor servicewomen as a worker with the British Y.W.C.A. War Service, Miss Betty Lorimer has returned to New Zea.and on leave and will go to her home in Christchurch. Miss Lorimer is a niece of Miss Jean Begg, the New Zealander who is in charge or all these clubs and she expects to return to help Miss Begg with the establishment of a further club in the South-east Asia Command. She stated iii an interview that 36 clubs had been established in various areas and the women using them were from fifteen different nations. Of eighty workers in these clubs, five were New Zealanders. Biunswick W.I. Members of the Brunswick Women’s Institute have arranged to hold an open evening on Saturday to entertain families of members and residents of Brunswick and will provide a special programme for the occasion. Pre-Wedding Parties. Several parties have been given for Miss Marjery Peck, whose marriage is to take place next week. The hostesses have included Miss Alison Smith, St. John’s Hill, Miss J. O’Neill, Ingestre Street, and Mrs. D. C. Morice, Nelson Street. Farewell Afternoon. Friends of Mrs. A. G. Mills, who, with her daughter, Miss Shirley Mills, are leaving Wanganui shortly to take up residence in Auckland, met at the home of Mrs. F. Blomfield, Wanganui East, last Wednesday aiternoon to wish the guests of honour farewell. A very pleasant time was spent with games and music. The hostess, Mrs. F. Blomfield, tasked Mrs. Mills to accept a small gift on behalf of those ladies present. She also remarked that they all hoped that Mrs. Mills would have much happiness in their new sphere of life. Mrs. Mills thanked the hostess and those present for a very enjoyable afternoon.
