ACCLIMATISATION WORK
WAIMARINO SOCIETY’S ANNUAL MEETING. ■O-C-* Raelihi, May 24. The annual meeting ot the vVaimarino Society was held on Fr day evening Just, when Mr. T. Shout presided over a good attendance, an apology being received from the president. Mr. W. McNie, on account of illness. The annual report and balance-sheet showed the society's affairs to be in a satisfactory condition. The fishing licences showed an increase but the opossum revenue showed a decrease for the year. The main item of expenditure was £5B, for the cost of deviating the Mangawhero Stream above Ohakune. It was reported that shag destruction, ranging operations and other phases of the work of the society had been seriously curtailed because ol the lack of transport to outlying districts. Attendances at monthly meetings had been high, and the chairman congratulated the secretary, Mr. A. C. Henderson, on his ven line record in no; missing one meeting in the whole 41. years of the society’s existence. Mr. Butler was also complimented on his attendance at each of the 12 meetings during the year. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr. W. McNie; vice-presidents, Messrs. T. Shout and J. M. Heise; secretary-treasurer. A. C. Henderson; council, Messrs. J. A. Morton. B. P. Buller, C. F. Goodman, S. Sims, T. Ranganui, T. 11. Brown, A. Aislabie, R. L. Todd. As Mr. Todd is expecting to go overseas shortly, he was granted indefinite leave of absence.
