MAGISTRATE’S COURT (0.C.) Hunterville, May 24. The Magistrate's Court sat in Hunterville on Monday, Mr. A. Coleman, S.M., presiding. For being found on licensed premises, the Argyle Hotel. Hunterville, during closed hours. J. W. Heal was convicted and fined £2 (costs 12s). For driving a motor-car on a public highway, near Ohmgaiti, on April 10, 1944, in a manner dangerous to the public. Lionel J. Welton was convicted and fined £2 (costs 10s). GENERAL ITEMS The Anglican Ladies’ Guild held Another card evening last week, when there was a good attendance. Mr. and Mrs. W. Shindler won the ”500.” and the crib was was won by Mrs. Williamson and Mr. Kerr. A social, to which all young people were invited, was held in St. Andrew's Hall. A very peasant time was spent, with competitions and games, which were organised by Rev. and Mrs. Baxter. This is the first social of its kind to be held, and as it oroved such a success, it is hoped to hold one a month during the winter. A dance, in aid of the vicarage remodelling fund, was organised bv the Anglican Ladies’ Guild last Saturday evening, and proved a most successful function. Several novelty dances added to the enjoyment of the dancers, and there were three tables of “00” to entertain the non-dancers.
