Mr. R. G. Kaywood, of the State Advances Corporation, Wellington, has been transferred to Wanganui, where he will take up the duties of resident officer.

Flight-Sergeant J. Archibald, who is in Finland, has been promoted to pilot officer, according to word received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Archibald, Churton Street, Wanganui. His Grace, Archbishop T. O'Shea, S.M., Catholic Metropolitan of New Zealand, will visit Marton to-morrow morning and in the afternoon will visit Kakariki. Mr. and Mrs. T. Anderson were elected life members of the Gonville Swimming Club at an executive meeting held on Thursday. Both have given more than 25 years’ service in the cause of swimming in Wanganui. Sergeant. Hugh Graham and Mrs. Graham, Keith Street, have received word that their son, Lawrence, who is serving with the R.N.Z.A.F. in Canada, has graduated from the Air Observers School as pilot officer. Cr. L. A. Mackintosh, Wangaehu, has been appointed to represent the Wanganui County Council on the special committee which is being set up to work with the Hospital Board in cases of emergency.

Captain D. Barrett, 0.8. E., of Hamilton, has been appointed rehabilitation officer in Hamilton. Captain Barrett returned a few months ago from the Middle East, where he served with the Long. Range Desert Group. He was formerly a clerk in the Court at Hamilton. Mr. C. T. Bates, former headmaster at the Queen’s Park School, who has been transferred to the Gonville School, was farewelled by the pupils on Wednesday. Mr. J. D. Comric, chairman ol the School Committee, paid tribute to the services given by Mr. Bates and wished him success in his new appointment. Opportunity was also taken to welcome Mr. T. F. Kerr, the new headmaster. Mr. Kerr, for the gathering, presented Mr. Bates with a rug and two books.
