APPEAL FOR NURSES

ATTRACTIVE WINDOW DISPLAYS , Hundreds o£ passers-by have viewed , with interest, the window displays see.. . in Wanganui this week in support ol the Nurses’ Recruitment Campaign. The Registered Nurses’ Association . and various hospital staffs arranged the displays. One display lorms an introduction to the nursing campaign showing the uniform, the medals, and other insignia of nursing. Infant welfare and mothercraft is the subject of another excellent display by the Karitane Hosptal. Everything for the welfare of infants and toddlers, including suitable equipment, clothes and food is well set out. A third display presents an operating theatre with surgeons and nurses around an operating table, besides which is the latest equipment in anaesthesia and blood transfusion. Another store has an interesting display showing a branch of nursing work. The appeal has been launched because more than 2000 nursing recruits are needed each year in Hospital Training Schools. Intending entrants to the nursing profession, in the first place, should write to the matron ot the nearest hospital and then be prepared for an interview. Training may begin at any age between 19 and 30 years. In exceptional cases candidates of 18 years and over 30 years are accepted. Many nursing occupations may be taken after the final examination is passed. A registered nurse today has greater opportunities than ever before and her sphere of service knows no limits.
