I»Iis Grace, Archbishop T. OShea, S.M., Catholic Metropolitan of New Zealand, is visiting Wanganui. He is accompanied by the Rev. Father Heavey, of Wellington. Wing-Commander P. G. Jamieson, D. 5.0., D.F.C. and bar, one ol New Zealand's outstanding fighter pilots in Britain, has been promoted to groupcaptain, states a London cable. Sir Arthur Hi'J, a noted shipping authority, has cued, ’ says a London cablegram. Born in 1863, he held a number of important positions. In 1913-14 and again in 1929 he was British delegate at international conferences which dealt with questions concerning the safety of life at sea. In 1927, as British delegate, he attended lhe economic conference held in Geneva.

Mr. W. J. Stone, president of the Wanganui Bowling Club, at the tea adjournment on Saturday, made feeling reference to the loss sustained by the club through the death of their oldest member, tne late Mr. J. H. Keesing. Mr. A. P. London paid tribute to the many good qualities of the late member, both as a citizen and a bowler, recalling many of the good works done by him. Mr. John McFarlane also spoke feelingly of Mr. Keesing's work for the educational, cultural and communal good of Wanganui. A letter from the Hutt Bowling Club was read expressing the sympatny of the members of that club with their Wanganui Club friends in the loss of so olu and popular a member. In respect for the memory of Mr. Keesing the members present stood in silence.
