Blenheim, Jan. 3. 1 A well-known Mahakipawa farmer, i William Gay Simmons, ajjed 60. to- i gether with two horses and a dog, 1 were killed yesterday when a hay- 1 stacker came into contact with a ; 11,000-volt power line, Simmons was taking the stacker i from the road into a newlv-cut pad- i dock of hay and preparatory to pass- 1 ing under iigh tension lines into the ’ paddock dismounted in order to lower I the jib of the stacker to clear the wire. ’ Apparently the horses moved forward, j causing the jib to contact the line. I The dog was found on the opposite . side of the road, with its teeth clenched on the wire of a fence. 1
