DANCE AT EMPIRE HALL The dance in the Empire Hall on Monday evening proved a great success. Setford’s orchestra supplied the music and Mr. T. Rihia played several extras. The number competition was won by Miss Ivy Amer. Mr. H. Lunn acted as M.C. and an excellent supper was dispensed. Another dance will be held In the Empire Hall on Saturday next. PERSONAL Flight-Sergeant Leonard Charles Baines has been promoted to pilotofficer. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Baines, of Russell Street, Marton. CIVIC THEATRE, MARTON “MOONTIDE” Jean Gabin is starred with Ida Lupino in his first American film, 20th Century-Fox's production, “Moontide,” which is currently at the Civic Theatre. The stirring story of life along the Pacific waterfront has been adapted from the best-selling novel ot Willard Robertson. As the romantic dock worker, Gabin scores a hit which presages a brilliant future on the American screen for the former great French actor. With Miss Lupino, Gabin has made what has already been termed the outstanding film of the season. Gabin is supported byThomas Mitchell and Claude Rains.
